Chapter 16. Switch Configuration

About Switch Configuration

The Switch Configuration Home page displays functions that allow you to set up media queues and other phone switch options. These options are available only to users who are members of the Master organization.

Media Queues

Media queues represent inbound routes, and are used as "holding places" for active calls. Each media queue is associated to a specific phone extension.

Once you have created media queues for an organization, they can be allocated as:

  • Launching media queues, for initiating a voice application with a phone call
  • Processing media queues, for holding calls while an application executes
  • Media queues for holding calls while a work item is created and assigned to a user on a queue

Each media queue and pilot number can only be associated with one organization in Management Console. That organization can allocate media queues for any type of use.

Procedure: Administering Switch Configuration

To access switch configuration functions, click the Switch Configuration link on the Administration Home page. Clicking the Switch Configuration link displays the Switch Configuration Home page.

  1. Click the Media Queues link to create a media queue and specify its associated pilot number (inbound route).
  2. Click the Switch Administration link to set up the parameters required for routing calls for applications through the phone switch.
